Then, she falls in love. This is an interactive comicbook, one where you move the story along with simple taps or swipes, helping Florence choose what to say in conversation, or maybe just eat her morning croissant.
This freeform approach to interactive storytelling leads to some wonderful design flourishes, which cleverly mirror the story. On Florence’s first date, for example, making small talk is a little awkward, so filling in the little puzzle-like speech bubbles is too; completing them gets easier as the conversation flows better.

These extra immersive moments really involve you in Florence’s story; it’s abundantly clear that there’s real talent behind this debut game from Australian oreator Mountains. Led by Ken Wong, lead designer on the seminal Monument Valley, this small four-person studio has crafted a handsome, original and genuinely touching interactive story. We’d better stop gushing now, we’re getting all misty-eyed again.
